Brace yourselves… this one is long
So I spent 5 days in the islands called Koh Phangan. It is described well as a roller coaster. The first day…well night, we got there we just went to dinner with two French guys who were in our taxi and ironically in the same room as us. We chatted and got to know each other and then headed for the pool for night swimming. We met these crazy ladies who all were 40+ and just had a blast talking to them. We sat at this bar and just talked to everyone. I ended up meeting a group of Germans and they were so cool I talked to them until like 4 am.
The next morning I met with some friends from the island before and then went to “Malibu beach” with those Germans. The water was soooooo clear and so fresh it was perfect. We tanned a little, swam a little and then went to this bar called Amsterdam up in the mountains to watch the sunset. It was so peaceful and a great view! We made our way back down on mopeds (by the way I drove with someone else on my back too and still didn’t crash ;)) the Germans went home to get ready for the islands waterfall party and I went back to meet fatin and attend our own hostels beach party. We went to dinner with this American guy in our room and this Canadian guy who was from a Korean decent. BEST DINNER EVER, at one point I fell out of my chair and spit my smoothie I was laughing so hard. The Canadian guy I call Jackie Chan (long non-racist story, he likes it and everyone calls him that too now) is seriously the funniest guy I have met. Everything he says I rave over laughing until my stomach explodes. He made this week so much fun.
By now we’ve slowly met everyone in the hostel. You have 3 buildings with two sides each all with 7 bunk beds in them. And we have a little “courtyard” with 1 tree in the middle. Behind us, closer to the ocean is the big common area with bean bags and chairs (oh, if you’re trying to picture this everything is outdoors, so Imagine like a giant bamboo patio.) after the common area and kitchen you have the bungalows and a giant pool and then the ocean. This place is not a hostel it’s a resort. It was such a beautiful and cheap place to stay! Besides the cold showers and squeaky beds it was great! The beds squeaked so loud when moving or climbing up I don’t understand how we all kept our cool. Imagine a room of a thousand squeaky rocking chairs and compare it to that sound.
So back to the beach party, it was pretty fun. It was a lot of dancing and eventually just sitting in the sand petting random dogs. That was the best part. As fatin and I left this tall guy I was making eye contact with earlier (who never came up and talked to me) said “wait up!”. So I turned around and he asked if I was leaving and then leaned in to try and kiss me. It was like there was a comedian in the room I started laughing so hard. He look so confused and said “I saw the signs”. And I say “what signs all you asked was if I was leaving and I told you yes”. LOL I couldn’t stop laughing because he just stood there so confused and then saying “it’s Thailand, cmon” and of course then I turn and say “I could care less what country I’m in, I don’t even know your first name why on earth would I kiss you…”. This guy was such a tool because the first thing he said after that was not an apology but an introduction. He told me his name and said “now you know my name” LOLLLL this boy has nerve. I will give him props on the wittiness but still these lips only belonged to the air kisses I gave every dog I saw. So I started walking away laughing and telling him to have a good night hoping he wasn’t staying at this hostel lol.
The next day (11th) it rained all day long so we just laid around and we’re lazy until the jungle party that night. Fatin and I found this Mexican restaurant called Aldo Loco and omg it’s right in between concession stand nachos and Seranos. It did the job for my Mexican food starvation these past 3 months. If you haven’t seen my adventures with Shelly the snail I highly suggest you go to my Facebook photos and enjoy yourself. She made friends with all the workers at the restaurant and was even asked about the next day (when I went back to eat there… again). After dinner we glow painted our bodies and got ready for the jungle party. We got a group from our hostel and headed out there. It was really cool we watched Muay Thai fights and danced for hours to very very low quality music. That’s the one thing that kind of killed the event was how stagnant and bad the house music was. But we ran into sooo many friends from Bangkok! So all in all it was a good night. Until we got home.
This night was wild. This Canadian couple we went with left early and was fighting because (from side Canada) this English boy was messing around and put his arm on her waste and touched her butt. (From side London) she grabbed him and was being all flirty so he moved closer to dance with her until he saw the boyfriend and started apologizing a ton. Silly, but cool he apologized they went separate ways all is good. Right? Wrong.
When we get back she’s crying so I go talk to her and she’s saying that her boyfriend treats her so bad and she can’t be in a relationship (5 years) anymore blah blah blah. So I comfort her and tell her to come hang out with me. Then out of no where she goes “I have to punch him, I have to punch that guy and show him a lesson”. And I’m like home girl you are like 110 pounds you are not hitting anyone. And of course the English dude Happens to be walking out of the bathroom so she bolts over and shoves him into the wall. Let me tell ya folks this went 0-100 REAL FAST. People are pulling her off him as she tries to keep hitting him and he’s so baffled because it was out of no where. Let me just say it’s 4 am, everyone is drunk and I am the only sober one who has seen the entire argument since the beginning at the jungle party.
This girl is going nuts and finally her boyfriend comes out and does absolutely nothing. Useless dude. The English guy goes over to try and understand what is going on and why he is being assaulted and it came down to he did this she did this when really I’m the one who saw it all and it was completely the girls fault. First of all (too much info) she kisses two different girls at this event… I’m not going to judge her preferences but cheating is cheating and she is in a 5 year relationship. Nothing happens with that but when the English guy moved over to dance with her, all hell broke loose. She had to be on drugs or really drunk because she kept yelling “hit me” and kept asking to fight that guy and it was just getting so ridiculous that I grabbed her and threw her over my shoulder and threw her inside the room and shut the door. I told her if she keeps hitting him she will get the cops called and go to jail. This girl wasn’t having it and kept trying to escape the room and come out. After a nice long trip to the beach and pool and back to calm down the English guy when we got back she was outside trying to fight Eve (most adorable French girl) because she was “talking crap” when she actually wasn’t. As she started walking up to Eve trying to be all tough, I stood in front of Eve and towered over the Canadian twig girl and said “please go ahead and try and hit her”. Took her .5 seconds before she realized that would be a horrible mistake and walked back inside. Lol craziest night ever right!!!!????
Weather wasn’t too good the rest of the trip so I’ll make it short. The Dallas couple arrived and we hung out with them all day until the famous full moon party. We all got our outfits and paint on and just hung around until it was time to go. After the most horrific and thrilling taxi ride there we arrived. Almost in one piece, a part of my soul is still on that road. We get to the party and it is thousands of people. Up and down the beach it was mad. TIP- if you ever go do not get into the water because it is now a bathroom for the night. We made our way up to this rooftop bar so we could look out across the whole event and it was insane. Just so many people. It took about 2 hours until I was ready to leave and thank goodness the group was too. So we headed out and I was so tired I ended up falling asleep in the taxi (by the way the taxis are like mini trucks with a roof thing on the back and a bench on each side so you can sit about 6 on each side). Well I feel asleep and I woke up because I flew across the seat onto heather cause I wasn’t holding on and the roads are insane. It scared me so bad I couldn’t fall asleep after that lol.
Yesterday was just a peaceful rainy day until I got bit by a dog. I was walking along the road by our hostel and I already knew (after being chased on my moped by this dog that guards this random house) that I wouldn’t make eye contact or anything this time. I was on the other side too. I see all the dogs as I come up and just keep my cool and keep walking. This brown one that looks like every single other brown dog on this island comes up toward me. I keep walking don’t even look down and it just bites my leg so I took off running. Thank God it didn’t break skin it just bruised after I cleaned it for precautionary reasons. After that it was a peaceful day sitting by the water talking with the hostel group about incredible things. Life, politics, how we are going to clean up this filthy earth, just loads of great topics. It was a really good end to my stay there. I got a lot of rest for today because I had to take a ferry to a new island Koh Tao for my 4 day scuba diving school! Thanks parents!!! But first. I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO SICK ON A BOAT. This ferry is huge and I’m on the inside lower level. An hour in and I’m doing good, i never get sea sick, wrong. Well this boat is acting like it’s in a hurricane. I think we were almost sideways at one point. I thought maybe the upper deck will be better. So I got up and stumbled up there. Wrong. Again. I look around and you would think it was drunk hangover city. Everyone was laying their bodies everywhere covered in sweat puking all over. These guys were walking up and down handing out bags to everyone. I made it to the bathroom and after found a spot in the corner to sit and try and hold my last nights food down. At one point I contemplated jumping off and swimming because I couldn’t bare the sickness anymore. Not to mention when you see someone puke it’s like a contagious yawn. Finally we’re off and I’m in one piece, didn’t throw up. I kept thinking I’m a champ walking to my resort. As soon as I’m filling out paperwork for my diving school I run out and throw up everywhere. It was horrific and when I walk back in he said “ya the waves are pretty bad today”. Great first impression bailey. Now I am in my little cute house trying to recover as I have thrown up twice since leaving the boat. Wish me luck and I’ll let ya know what this island has in store for me! Thanks for reading!!!!:)
Please send out some prayers for safety and guidance! I will be solo traveling until I’m home march 4. Fatin left two days ago and is safe and sound with her family in Texas!!!:)
