I. Am. So. Sunburnt.
I have been through an entire bottle of aloe and half a bottle of aloe lotion. Still look like Rudolph’s nose. I even put on sunscreen. Lol besides being miserable this island was INSANE!
We met this couple who are from Dallas and shockingly we had so much in common! I live right by them in Dallas and they work for State Farm where my dad worked for forever. It was such a coincidence. We ended up spending the entire island time with them and had SO much fun! Our hostel is right on the beach with a strip of hostels and bars along the sand. You think spring break in Panama City Beach is fun? Think again. Thousands of people are on the beach at night watching fire shows and listening to crazy music. The water recedes really far so you can walk to all the boats and play in the sand too. Seriously so much fun!
We ran into the 4 British guys we stayed in Bangkok with and that of course was a ton of fun! Being on the island is just so relaxing, you lay all day and talk to anyone and everyone. Oh yeah, I got married and divorced all within 20 minutes. I guess it wasn’t love. But it’s okay there were plenty of other chances to gain citizenship (I mean very chivalrous husbands) to choose from. Hahahah.
The islands are definitely more expensive though:(. When you’re used to paying 30 baht ($1) for a plate of Pad Thai and then they ask for 70-80 baht you’re just baffled even though your entire meal is still like $3 hahaha. You become so stingy lol. I got some eyelash extensions (again) for only $22!! In America you would pay $100-300 and they look great!
This morning we got up and hiked up what seemed like the stairway to hell it was so hot and steep, to go to the famous viewpoint. It was amazing!! So worth the buckets of sweat and wheezing. The view was so beautiful and the photos are on my Facebook!!
The first day of Koh Lanta, we all went to rent mopeds and headed to the beach. Me being sunburnt I swam in my giant cat shirt. Not the most appealing bathing suit but guess who didn’t burn even more! We took our mopeds and drove around the entire island! We stopped at some local markets and cruised until the sun came down. WE SAW MONKEYS!!!!!!! So cute. The the 4 of us (Dallas couple, fatin and I) had a wonderful dinner where we played shark tank and I gave them my AMAZING inventions. Sadly I was only offered 1 baht for 100% of my company by Patrick. One day my friends, one day I will have some crazy product or invention. We laughed so hard it will forever be a great memory.
That night I started to feel horrible and was shaking all night with a sore throat. My immediate thought was strep throats for the 1739392939 millionth time. We had booked a 4 island snorkeling tour I have been waiting for since before Thailand and sadly I was so sick I couldn’t go. There went 700 baht:( (only $20 so not that mad). But still. I laid in bed literally all day today while fatin went and saw cool fish and swam in caves! But what’s crazy about Thailand is you can just get medicine from any pharmacy. They have shops all over and you just walk in and ask for something and you get it. If you want codeine, Valium, birth control, amoxicillin… no doctors orders you just buy it. And my amoxicillin costed me $4… it was so strange to me but I needed the meds so I didn’t ask questions. (Accept I did research the legitimacy of the medicine and the dosages).
Now as we get ready for bed we have a long day tomorrow! We will leave here at 7:30 am and take a boat to Krabi, then a 7 hour bus to the east coast of Thailand, then another boat to Koh Phangan where we will spend 5 days and get ready for the infamous full moon party!
Have a great morning and see you soon! 24 days till I’m home!
