I only spent €5 yesterday!

So far in Milan it’s day 3 and I’ve spent €18…

Crazy right?! I know. If you read the post before this you read that I made a budget with Fatin and we only spent 10 each! Well yesterday was pretty frugal as well! Luckily.

We went to the market (go look at my Facebook page for pictures of curiously oversized fruit found in a local supermarket) it’s really neat. Well while we were shopping we kept hearing someone yell in Italian to later realize we were being yelled at. I froze while picking up some salami to see this man at the other end yelling at me in Italian. The only thing I could think to was put my hands up and say “English?”. Hahah he started laughing and told me they closed in 5 minutes. I was baffled cause it was like 1:30…

We cut our shopping short and I proudly walked out with kiwi and two vastly oversized pears. Totaling €2.75. I asked the guy what time they opened tomorrow and he said “no no we open again at 15:30. Which is 3:30 to us.

SO YOU MEAN TO TELL ME I HAVE TO WALK ALL THE WAY BACK HOME (across the street) TO WAIT TWO HOURS AND COME BACK?

I was slightly annoyed but cool cool. We walked back and ate our fruit and Fatin bought some of those smiley face fries, the ones we had when we were little. They were pretty decent. After we ate our nutritious lunch we went into the city to walk around. We ended up just walking around and being on the opposite side of where we normally go. So we found a metro and man oh man was the metro info guy cute. I was tempted to ride it in a circle just to come back to look at him more. I didn’t. For the record.

Long story shortened we made it to the park. I set up my hammock and fatin and I just relaxed and people watched. Definitely some quality time. If y’all don’t already know, Fatin and I do some pretty epic accents and dialogue. Really though, it should be brought to the media. We specialize in jersey accents and probably do them about 7 times a day. Back to the hammock, were just chillin and out to our left we see three boys looking at us. Fatin and I start laughing as we see them stopping and walking and looking like they were trying to get the nerve to come over. They ended up walking by us and standing somewhere close because we could here them. I was about to just get up and go introduce myself since they clearly were trying to. But one of the guys finally came over.

They barely spoke English. It was hilarious and the confident (and youngest) one looks straight at Fatin and says “you have good lips”. We busted out laughing and tried not to make it awkward. But instantly we made friends. I asked them if they thought we spoke Italian before they walked over and one said yes and another said he thought I was Russian. I get that a lot…. They’ve never seen a hammock so one of them jumped right in while I got out. I don’t think they expected me to Tower over them either so that was funny. Oh and I couldn’t pronounce their names so I shortened them to Andy, Matt and Klo. Andy is the funny one, Matt is the young ladies man and klo is the quiet one. I literally can barely hear him speak. After some good chat ( gosh I sound British) we all decided to go eat.

Sidenote. There was a little pig on a leash in the park so of course I had to ask if I could pet it. The woman let me and when I went to pet Yolanda, she bit me. Kinda hurt my feelings but still I got to pet a pig so I recovered quickly.

We had a nice dinner while google translate remained in the middle of the table. We also realized google translate honestly doesn’t work very well. The way we speak in English comes out so different in Italian hahaha. But still it was a fun time. And soooo sweet of them, they paid for dinner. Like we just met them, I thought it was very generous of them.

Another side note. Fatin and I are learning how to say “can I please pet your dog” in at least 10 different languages. We have mastered English and Italian.

Last side note. We used our new Italian phrase and got to pet this mans two little Wiener Dogs and I swear we both shed a tear. They were jumping all over us and the boys probably thought we were weirdos getting so happy just to pet dogs. We miss our pups alright.

We strolled around a little bit and then when we started not to be able to feel our head, shoulders, knees and toes we called it an evening and made plans to hang out today! So we will update you on our new friends later. Stay tuned 🙂 oh and if you were wondering where the other €2.25 went, I bought some Oreos and a Twix in a vending machine. No judgement.
